The newest addition to the Korg legacy, the Minilogue XD seamlessly blends satisfying vintage-style design with fast and agile hands-on control. This model boasts stunning sounds and a mountain of effects, all of it flavoured with analogue warmth. Each voice housed by this four-voice synth is formed by two analogue oscillators and a digital multi made up of three engines: Noise, VPM and User. The noise section can be tweaked to get some really percussive sounds out of this tank, while the VPM is actually an FM section with two operators that already give you a universe of timbres to play with. The User engine is basically a custom-designed oscillator, one that you can mould and shape with your own hands or with the help of the special Software Development Kit.

As soon as you've mastered the basics of the oscillators, there are plenty of other functions to get to grips with. Two envelopes, LFO, filter, three types of effects (modulation, reverb and delay) that can be used simultaneously, and a user effect slot for loading in your own creations. There's an on board sequencer and even the option to micro-tune the pitch of each key and CV. Space has somehow been spared for the classic Korg-signature joystick, polishing off the already teeming control panel with flair and, since the Korg Minilogue XD features a handy waveform display, you can watch what happens when you start squeezing those electrons and spitting out sounds.
